Stephen was born in Indiana, began studying voice
in high school and later at IU Extension, Rhode Island Conservatory
and Kent State University. He made his professional debut in Jennerstown,
PA singing the tenor role in Student Prince. He went on to New York
City and appeared as a leading man in musical theatre both in the
NYC area and on tour from coast to coast, accumulating over 2000
performances of musical theatre.
He was in broadway productions of Kiss Me Kate, Brigadoon and Oklahoma. After
serving two years in the army and singing with the 3rd Army Soldiers Chorus,
he joined Fred Waring and the Pennsylvanians for two years. He met Diane, his
wife, in New York City, where they both were appearing in a Bel Canto Opera Company
production.
Since moving to North Carolina, he has continued to sing in sacred music as well
accompanying himself on the guitar. He and Diane have performed numerous programs
of folk music together.
